Got a copy of Happiness Comix at Floating World today. I’m stoked. Only read a bit of it so far, but it’s pretty damn awesome.

May possibly do a review of it once I’m done with it, been wanting to do more reviews / rants about stuff.

Happiness Comix was great!  Kudos to Leah Wishnia for pulling together this jumbo anthology, with a handful of heavy hitters but lots of folks I’ve never heard of before doing A grade stuff.  The poorly photographed page is from Zach Collins’s “Untitled Comic About Hot Dogs and the Future.”

Reading comix is a family affair in my household, and I usually start by pre-screening all my underground comics through my 4 year old first.  She tells me which ones are worth reading and I take it from there…  

Just Kidding!  I haven’t let her read HAPPINESS yet, although she is well versed in comics such as Valiant’s Super Mario Brothers Collection and Jim Woodring’s The Lute String.

Proper commentary on HAPPINESS coming right up…

Happiness Comix #1 review

I just got the new Happiness anthology from Leah Wishnia and it’s impressive.  With a super slick cover and newsprint interiors it feels like a magazine from the past and the future at the same time.  Each contributor comes with a totally unique and fresh comic style.  I would say the unifying feature of the comic is really solid storytelling with an international flavor.  72 pages of cutting edge comix for $6!  Happiness indeed.

Happiness Comix #1!!! thankyou thespithouse & co.! I really want AD’s AREACC and some of the other stuff over at snakebomb & rurucomix but I’m pretty broke friends. Ashcan comics want me to draw some stories for them so maybe I can finally prove I’m not some creepy tumblr lurker afraid to post jokes and artwork because no one will like them. Sidenote, all the comics and zines I have are probably the most colourful and imaginative things I have, any kids I have (I am one of the dad-destined) will want them more than a stack of pokemon cards or hustler magazines.
