Open call for work: looking for handmade, one of a kind artists’ books for a show I’m organizing at the Sculpture Center. ALL work submitted will be accepted if it meets the above criteria (no multiples, no editions accepted!). We’ll have a pop-up shop at the Sculpture Center in conjunction with their next big exhibition from October - January. EVERYONE is welcome to make a book. You don’t have to be an artist! It can be comics, collage books, studio scraps, crayon drawings, photos, stickers, etc etc. Whatever you can think of. **Drop off in person or via mail at Desert Island by September 20th. In addition to the book, you must include your name, phone number, sale price of book (artist keeps 100%), and email address. If mailing, write SCULPTURE CENTER somewhere on the envelope!! Do not ask me any questions about this. Just make a book!
SAN FRANCISCO! Snakebomb Comix and Max Capacity are at SF Zine Fest this Saturday and Sunday, 11-5pm. Come see us at the County Fair building in Golden Gate Park, we’re the stinky creeps wearing cheap sunglasses indoors.
the remaining pre-order packages of Happiness #4 going out this weekend :,p
Damn it so many great artists and publishers are gonna be at SAFARI this Saturday!!! Fuck that pretty little nob row elcaf thing, THIS will be a measurement of interesting comics in the UK!!!!
Wish we could be there!
Copies of Happiness #4 may be available at Safari this weekend with Antoine Cossé at the Breakdown Press table or at the Good Press Gallery table. Unless the shipments of books didn’t arrive in time, which they probably didn’t. Ask anyway!
Future Man just returned from RIPExpo in Rhode Island and brought these goodies back to Bellingham!
- Happiness Vol. 3 + 4 edited by Leah Wishnia - This is an awesome comics anthology that captures the energy and excitement of the independent creators’ movement better than anything else I’ve come across.
- Mimi and the Wolves Act I: The Dream by Alabaster - The first book in an epic tale of affairs, alliances, and friendships in a quest for power and self-discovery.
Really awesome stuff, now available for checkout!
Happiness #4 now available to check out at The Bellingham Alternative Library!

Email happinesscomix (at) gmail (dot) com introducing yourself and your work (a link to a website or portfolio works best). Please note that since the 4th issue just came out I do not plan to start putting together the next issue for at least another year…
However I do try to post open calls for submissions to other comic/art publications on here when I stumble upon them!
Plummeting through endlessness. Me Nut Nut Nut 3 randomness.
Excerpt of one of three pages i have in Happiness Comix #4, edited and published by Leah Wishnia. Its huge and theres a butt ton of cool shit in there, including a large feature on punk flyer art and a cd. Happiness cover art by Jordan Speer.

WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR??!?!?!??!?!
We don’t have a table at SPX this year but am wondering if it would be worth it to just show up and walk around and give out/trade/sell happiness #4 from a tote bag? Maybe that’s not allowed though, I don’t know.
Not sure that there would even be any demand for the new issue there, what with the sheer size of the event and number of exhibitors, but it would be nice for the new issue to be available somewhere at the event just in case?
WHAT DO YOU THINK, INTERNET????
To anyone who ordered Happiness or anything else from the spithouse storenvy in the last few weeks, please check your spam box for anything from “lvwlvwlvwl” or “happinesscomix” (both gmail addresses).
from the sounds of it, it seems like my messages to customers are going directly into their spam boxes not the main inbox … :P
I have been nominated for an Ignatz Award in Promising New Talent!
Thanks to the jurors for the nomination!
Attendees are the voters. So if you come to SPX next month, September 13 - 14, you can vote! Check out all the other nominees.
